Don’t Touch That Dial!
Don’t Touch That Dial! By GLENN DAVIS DOCTOR G The music was equalized when it was recorded, mixed and mastered. So why do so many people insist on coloring the sound so much? Personal taste? Poor acoustics? The listener is not sitting where they should be (does not apply to those wearing headphones)? A cobby stereo system? Or is it just habit? We have all seen and heard it…..the boom-boom …

Music Server
Does anybody knows a windows music server that support multiple users?

I’ve been looking for more than a month without any luck. It seems that any good music server are only linux or unix based. Does anybody knows one that works on windows. Slimserver has been the best one yet, but since i can’t stream to different users differents song, it seems useless. Please please please help me
It would be nice if the software can handle itunes playlists like Slimserver does. Since all my music is organized in itunes…

Try Icecast with Mplayer….The combo rocks…you can set up a streaming server in a jiffy.

What cable do I need to connect a coaxial audio output to a 3.5mm stereo audio input?

My TV has a “coaxial audio out” and my speakers have a “3.5mm stereo in”. If anybody could help me connect these two devices I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

By Coaxial, you mean a single orange connector?

If so, ya need a codec, which is a AV receiver to decode the signal.

And these speakers, are they computer speakers, or gaming speakers? Cuz ya can hook up your VCR, Videogames, DVD player through these speakers if you get a RCA to 3.5mm jack connector.

First, I would buy a video/audio switch box.
Second, hook up any video game connections, VCR, DVD, Cable, Satellite, or DVR connections to it
Afterward, use a Composite video/audio cable, sending the video signal to your TV, than the audio signals (red and white) to the (male to female) RCA to 3.5mm cable adapter, than hook up the male 3.5mm cable to the female 3.5mm female adapter and it should work.

If I only hook up my center channel, front left and front right, will I still get ok surround sound?

dont watch alot of movies, mainly sports and sitcoms. should I go ahead and buy a pair for the rear left and right? Dug these out of the garage and my 5.1 is now a 3.1.

You won’t get surround sound. You’ll get okay sound, but the surround part comes from the surround speakers. The fact that you are asking this question at all leads me to believe that you will probably be just as happy with 3.1.

Do you think pop music in America will ever recover?

Ever since the boy bands of the 90’s popular music in America has been suffering. It’s to the point where radio stations play exclusively R&B and hip hop. Recently a great pop artist La Roux has topped the charts. Is this a sign that maybe, hopefully, things may go back to how they used to be, before the backstreet boys, and popular music will actually be good?

I think we have hope.

With Lady Gaga and La Roux, talent is on the rise.

Rap is sure dying out. Thank God.
