Needle Stylus
Not enough stylus pressure on my old turntable?

I have quite an old turntable at home and really no clue what type it is etc, but I sometimes have problems with my Pink Floyd LP’s skipping. I’ve checked for solutions online, and there people suggest to adjust the stylus pressure/anti-weight, but my old turntable doesn’t have these options, it’s just the needle and the arm, nothing to adjust. When I apply very little pressure to the needle the music plays just fine, so I’m sure it’s a pressure issue, what is the best way to go around and fix this?

I’ve heard of taping a penny on to add weight.

Why doe’s the styli needle jump on my 12″?

Weider PRO 256 Bench/Combo 80 lb. Vinyl Set?

Im thinking about ordering that and i would like to know is it worth it plus does it include everything in the picutre? thank you

I would not recommend buying this. It is only 80 lbs. That is a complete rip-off. If you buy something, make sure it is at least 150 lbs. Then you can add on, but the 80 thing is useless. Also, I do not like vinyl weight sets myself. They are really big, and metal weights are much smaller, but weight the same and the biggest weights for the standard sized bars are metal. So when buying a bench, try to stay away from vinyl.

has anybody paid a lot of money for a vinyl LP?

how much?

I’ve never paid that much for a vinyl album. However, if I can ever find a vinyl of Led Zeppelin’s BBC Sessions for a decent price (yeah right) I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it. The cheapest I’ve ever seen for vinyl was 300 something dollars ha.
The most I’ve paid was like $25 for The Wall.

Technics SL 20 Turntable, help!?

My fiances mom gave it to me, she said it had never really been used. It’s still in the original box and has the manual. It’s extremely clean, all parts seem to be working fine and smooth. I plug it in and nothing happens. I can’t get the turntable to spin at all. Any suggestions? Things I should look for? Should I just sell it as is? Thanks!
I should also add, this turntable seems to be from the 80’s, although I’m not sure what year.

That’s a belt-drive table and there were clamping screws to keep the platter from turning or coming loose during shipping. So, the first things I would suspect are the clamping screws are in place, the drive belt is not around the motor pulley, or the drive belt has stretched and fallen off, etc…

Remove the rubber mat from the platter. If there are any screws through holes in the aluminum platter preventing it from turning or being removed by pulling it upward, remove those as they are the clamping screws for shipping.

If the clamping screws are not in place, rotate the platter while looking through the openings in the top and see if you can see the belt around the small motor pulley. The belt should be around a large pulley on the underside of the platter and stretched over to the motor pulley. If not, remove the platter by pulling it upward, find the belt and place it around the large pulley on the underside of the platter. Then, replace the platter and stretch the belt over to and around the motor pulley, working through one of the openings in the top of the platter. If the belt is broken, the rubber is breaking down, or it’s too stretched to work properly, you can easily find a replacement by Googling the model number of your turntable along with the word belt.

Good luck! Hope you get that old Technics spinning like new!
